Disney has released an album with ten of their classic songs ranging from Beauty and the Beast to When You Wish Upon a Star to Colors of the Wind, performed and arranged by some of the world's top modern guitar players including Zakk Wylde, Paul Gilbert, George Lynch, and more.
It's actually pretty fantastic, and it seems like Disney actually gave the artists full reign. Across the album are deviations into shred territory where on the original version was simplicity, and while it occasionally may remind one of Bill and Ted-like, 80's era shred, that's far from a bad thing if it's done right (depending on your mood–which, currently for me, is ALWAYS-IN-THE-MOOD). plus 2016’s Metal Disney was way worse with that anyway (however no less amazing in every way).
The arrangement on When You Wish Upon a Star and Paul Gilbert's solo on Under the Sea are especially cool.
All that's missing are tracks from Tosin Abasi, Brent Hinds, Dave Davidson, and Marty Friedman, and this thing would be a record for all ages!
Here's to that cover art.
