This is stupid.

In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, 2020 presidential hopeful Kamala Harris said she listened to 2Pac and Snoop Dogg in college. She was asked about her weed intake during her college days, to which she answered, laughing: ‘Yea, I did inhale,’ and adding later: ‘it was a joint.’ They then asked her what music she listened to and, of course, she mentioned two artists that all the cool people are into.

Harris graduated law school in 1989. 2Pac’s first record, 2Pacalypse Now, came out in 1991, and Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle in 1993.

Which has caused some to accuse Harris of ‘political appropriation’ (my term), meaning: she’s only saying this to score brownie points with her target demographics. This is certainly something all politicians do (all of them), but the real question is why, to which I would answer: because most people are too stupid to think/care about anything else.

Maybe Kamala Harris did listen to 2Pac and Snoop Dogg at least two years after she graduated college, and maybe the way she was asked the question was set-up for conservatives to POUNCE!! Or maybe she’s lying, and a more realistic answer would have Run DMC or The Beastie Boys (no, wait: The Beastie Boys are Jewish and not black or latino, so that can’t count, my bad), but unless she can give me at least a five minute long answer to who she thinks is better, Biggie or Pac, I don’t see why any of this matters.

Because that’s an actual question (and one which I personally, after much thought, just cannot answer (there’s too much there)).
