Dr. Dre–famous producer, Beats Headphones creator, and co-founder of the legendary hip-hop group N.W.A.–is potentially producing a song on Eminem's new as-yet-untitled LP (there is no other new information about it), or at least according to Allan Hughes, director of the Dr. Dre/Jimmy Iovine HBO documentary The Defiant Ones. 'Right now,” Hughes said, ‘(Dre's) producing, in the eleventh hour, a track for Eminem's latest album.'
Dre is widely credited for discovering and subsequently catapulting Eminem to SUPER-stardom back in the late nineties. He also produced the majority of Em's debut, The Slim Shady Lp, and many of the songs on Eminem's second record, the kind and Christian The Marshall Mathers Lp. Eminem has appeared on several of Dr. Dre's solo records as well, including 'Medicine Man' off Dre's 2016 Compton, and 'Forget About Dre' on 2001. However, Dre didn't produce anything on Em's last record, The Marshall Mathers Lp 2, and only produced one on Em's 2010 Recovery (‘So Bad’).
The tracks Eminem and Dr. Dre produced are some of the best in all of hip-hop–including ‘My Name Is’, ‘Guilty Conscious’, ‘The Real Slim Shady’, and ‘Business’–so this news is EXCITING! It may be only one song, but The Marshall Mathers Lp 2 and Compton were both cool, and, this (Hughes's comments) coming several months after Eminem's announcement 'don't worry, I'm working on a new album! Here's something meanwhile,' with the release of the standalone song 'Campaign Speech', a new Eminem album is seeming closer by the day…
