Motorhead have released a recorded cover of David Bowie's classic song 'Heroes' off of Bowie's 1977 album of the same name. The cover will be released on a Motorhead covers album coming out on September 1st.
The song is expectedly thrashy, but a little less expectedly is Lemmy's relatively laid back vocals, which build up over the course of the song just as in the original version, and his occasional switch-up of the lyrics. It's certainly a 'Motorhead-take' on the song, which only that band could do, and was one of the last songs recorded by Motorhead ringleader Lemmy Kilmister before his death in 2015, only several weeks before Bowie's death in 2016.
Check out the video below, which seems to serve partly as a tribute to both Lemmy and Bowie. Motorhead, Bowie or any music fan, this is a cool take involving two of the greatest musical innovators of the past forty years.
